“He’s flirty, dirty, and stubborn as hell. How can I resist?”

Cocky racing driver Tyler Joseph is sidelined after a fiery crash forces him to rest and recover at his best friend's farmhouse. If he ignores the doctor’s orders, he might miss the rest of the season.

Tyler does what he wants, though, and what he wants right now is the hot, sexy little physical therapist whose hands only touch him where it hurts.

Alec Lands promised himself he’ll stop dating trouble, but he’s a sucker for a pretty face, and Tyler is too much temptation to bear. Finally, he gives in—on the condition that it’s a one-time thing. They both know it could end their careers.

But they can’t stop, no matter how hard they try. Every risk they take could end them forever... but Alec wants to keep up with Tyler's fast-paced life, and Tyler is tired of leaving men in the dust.

When they’re sent into a tailspin, it’ll take everything they have to reach their destination: forever, together. Will they hit the brakes too soon—or, worst of all, too late?

Clutch is Book 5 of the Significant Brothers, a feel-good MM romance series. Six best friends from high school are reunited to banter—and occasionally give helpful advice—as, one by one, they each find Mr. Right. Each book can be read as a standalone story and has a guaranteed happily-ever-after ending, and no cliffhanger.

Tyler finally gets his true win. Alec comes from out of the blue at one of the worst times of his life. Alec is a beautiful man inside and out. He is as confident in his career as Tyler. He also stands his ground and all this is a combination Tyler can't resist. Alec has one goal and that is to get the sexy as sin, stock car driver healed. As he gets to know Tyler, his priority is to keep him safe. I am and have always been a race fan. I come from a racing family. I was raised working in the garage with my Dad and watching him race at the tracks in our area. The last car we raced and built was for my youngest sister. We couldn't have been prouder. She did our family and our beloved Fathers legacy proud. Though he passed in 2013, we still have that last car. Needless to say, this is my favorite story for obvious reasons. I HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK AND THIS INCREDIBLE SERIES!!!!!

Tyler and Alec are the perfect opposites attract couple. From the moment they meet they can't deny the spark and, try as they might, they keep finding themselves working their way back together. There's plenty of humor in Clutch, and E. Davies keeps outdoing themselves in the creative coupling department (LOL).

Clutch is the fifth book in E. Davies Significant Brothers series. One by one we've seen these guys find love, and we're down to just one more brother! All six books are beautifully performed by Greg Boudreaux.

an audiobook copy of Clutch was provided to me for the purpose of my honest review

4.5 stars and my favorite of the series so far! This is definitely a case of instalove, so if that isn’t your bag, it won’t be for you; but it just worked beautifully for me. Tyler and Alec were both aching for love (even if they couldn’t admit it to themselves), and for them to find it with each other made for such a sweet read. Great humor, low angst, an interesting side suspenseful plot, this book just really had it all.

The Significant Brothers strike gold again. Well, at least E. Davies does when he writes this book. It is always great to follow up with and see all of the brothers again, but even more fulfilling to see another brother get his HEA. You know it's a good series when you can name all of the brothers, their SO, and their occupation...without looking back at other books. That is a challenge for me, I tell you, and I didn't need help. That's how much I apparently love these guys. lol

In Clutch, Tyler finally settles down. He doesn't want to be formally out as a race car driver, even though he has never actually hid in the closet, and he isn't into relationships. After a really bad crash, Tyler needs to see a physical therapist, and Alec is totally dreamy. There is great chemistry between them. Alec is not out at his job and doesn't really want to be. Much like Tyler, he is worried about how his sexuality would affect his career. He also doesn't want to get involved since he is one of Tyler's medical professionals. The guys form a great friendship, but very quickly find the other irresistible. After a while, they decide that happiness is more important than image.

There was pretty much no angst regarding the relationship, and communication was present for the guys. I loved getting to watch them come together and find someone worth being happy for. It was also great to see all of the other guys again. I'm looking forward to Josh's story.

Edited to add:
I did a re-read by listening to the audio book, and I loved it just as much as the first time I read it. Greg Boudreaux does a great job giving life to these characters. With 6 books and 12 characters in a series, I could imagine it would be hard to remember and be consistent with the voices book to book, but Greg does it brilliantly. I loved the audio version.

This book was just what I needed - and what I expected from Ed Davies. It was a sweet read with very little angst, a great romance between two guys who'd never looked, or wanted, something more than a hot one night stand.

Both Tyler and Alec were well drawn characters, each unique personality perfectly complementing the other. This book's also quite amusing at times and is liberally sprinkled with song lyric references which had me chuckling a lot.

Ed is an auto read author for me, I know what I'll get from him but with enough variety that it never feels like I'm reading the same book twice. His Significant Brothers series has been a hit throughout and I've not disliked a featured couple yet.

This pair though I really loved, they were both super sweet and both, while seemingly outwardly very confident, had moments of shyness and doubt and Alec's blushes were delightful!

They're also incredibly sexy together and I think this book has some of Ed's most racy scenes in it including one of my perennial favourites - wall sex!

I loved the support network outside of the Significant Brothers in this one too. Tyler's team at the race track and their WAGs were great and central to the plot, which was also nicely paced and believable.

The epilogue's super sweet too and now I can't wait for Josh's story - which I hope will be Book Six and, sadly, probably the final one in this series of the high school best friends who stuck together once they all realised they were gay or bi.

#ARC kindly received from the author in return for an honest and unbiased review.

This is a terrific addition to The Significant Brothers series. It’s cute, sweet, fast-paced, and full of love. The characters are fun, likable, and a little broken but help each other heal. There is something for everyone in this story from humor, romance, a little mystery and suspense. I look forward to reading what happens next.

okay compared to the last book Trace, this book had parts i loved and parts i got annoyed with.

I expected Alec to hold off the sex with Tyler at least for a lot longer than what happened.

I did enjoy the racing aspect, i think i would have enjoyed more of that instead of it being talked about and only seeing one race... but oh well.

Overall cute low angst story. now on to the last significant brother, Josh, can't wait to see who settles him down.

Darum geht’s:

Significant, Indeed

This series is so splendidly constructed, beautifully written, and each book interdependent on the others—and the previous ones in order—that the only justifiable review I can think of is to combine them all into one.

Caveat: I am not kidding that you must read them in order, no matter what the promotions or other reviewers might say. That’s the only way to get the richness of the lives of all six of the Significant Brothers and their eventual intendeds. The great thing about what author Davies has done is include in each book a brief back story of how these six men came together to develop their own family by bonding in high school and staying with each other for another decade through thick and thin.

My only complaint is that some of the covers can lead you to be a bit confused as who is who, but for the big guy is the “brother” in five of them, I think.

All that said, here’s a brief review of each of the tales, each of which I grace with five stars.

Splinter
Nico the ex-astronaut is now a Park Ranger in the Great Smokies, and Deen the jaded rock star is on a hiatus from his infamous debauchery. That they should be thrown together in the forest and no only survive a splinter or two but come together as lovers is a sweet, and sometimes adventurous, tale. This book sets the tone, and introduces us to the other brothers. Nico is quite conflicted about how he lost his career in space, and Deen is getting more and more disillusioned with life on the road. Can Knoxville bring them both down to earth?

Grasp
Maybe the sweetest romance of the books, this one pits the big and sometimes gruff zoo vet Blane against the free spirited and artistic Falcon. They meet at the zoo where Falcon has taken up an artist stance to capture meerkats in action for a series of paintings. Though instantly attracted, both put up physical and emotional barriers until it becomes obvious to friends and families that this is stupid. How their romance progresses is one of the neat stories of the series.

Slick
Roman, the somewhat out international airline pilot, and Oscar, the dynamic and suddenly devastatingly injured classical dancer, run into each other somewhat haphazardly. Very much a one-night stand kind of guy, Roman starts to think a little more domestically (which he’s always longed for) as Oscar starts moving in the opposite direction because they are basically always on the road. How they come together with the help of the brothers, and their own frustrations, is compromised by a jealous jerk in each of their lives. Interesting how they approach the problems and how they are ironed out.

Trace
This one’s MCs are a bit off-the-grid for me, but in the end they seem to fit just as well as the others. Dustin is almost an introvert, which sets him apart from the brothers as much as his physical stature, which is smaller (the cover of this one is very confusing). Leo, on the other hand, is sort of like Nico in the first book—he’s an ex-military (close enough to an astronaut for me), built like a brick outhouse, and trying to find his way after four years in the service. And even though he has (naively and somewhat shockingly) never given much of a thought to his sexuality, his is the only eventual gay-for-you story in the series, and it took me a while to get used to that. The nasty bits of homophobia that dance around this tale are the eventual crises points, but in the end two completely ill-suited men get what they need from the bothers, and each other.

Clutch
This is the conflict-of-interest one wherein brother Tyler, the car racing pro, gets completely wrecked and needs deep physical—if not emotional—therapy. And who would give him that service? Well, openly gay therapist Alec. When they meet all bets are off as they are inflammable to the touch whenever they are near. This leads to a lot of hands-off planning, moist of which doesn’t work until Alec wisely refers Tyler to another therapist. The conflicts don’t end, however, and it takes some kick-butt stuff from the brothers, especially farmer John, whom we get to know here in a sort of prelude to the last book, to get these two together Nice denouement.

Tremble
This one has the best brother IMHO, John, the proprietor of a dude ranch, and the most unconvincing set-up for his get together with Evan. The latter is virtually left at the altar by his seriously nasty, dominant fiancé while Leo (see Trace) is taking their pre-wedding photos at the ranch. John is instantly smitten by the extremely naïve and trusting Evan, and it turns out that John, in his own way, is also naïve and very, very trusting. If you can get past the incongruity of how Evam was dumped and who did it, and wander along with him and John, you might find this one of the better, if not the best, of the series. Which I did.

Have fun with a grand series.

I haven't met a book by Ed Davies that I didn't love.  Truism.  This series is especially endearing because all of the main characters are interesting and lovable.  This holds true with both Tyler, a race car driver, and Alec, a physiotherapist.  Tyler is out to his closest friends and race team but coming out, really coming out, would likely be the death of his sponsorships and therefore his career.  Racing in the South is not known for inclusiveness.  He did have a gay-friendly sponsor previously, but the current sponsor didn't appear to fly the rainbow flag, so to speak.  When Tyler is involved in a spectacular collision, that could have killed him, he was in hopes to rehab and quickly return to the race.  The estimated time of return was 8 weeks and Tyler thought 'not only NO but Hell No'.  He would lose points with every missed race and could lose his sponsorship, his car, and his team.  When he was referred to physiotherapist Alec, his gaydar rang loudly.

Alex, unfortunately, was even more in the closet than Tyler.  As a physiotherapist to professional athletes, in the South, he was reasonably concerned about the effect on his career if he was outed.  Alex was lonely and really had nothing outside of his career.  There was immediate mutual attraction and sizzle.  Unfortunately, ethically, Alec can't be involved with a patient and Tyler has never dated, been involved in a relationship although, Alec may be the one.

In this story, you will find a tablespoon of SUSPENSE, more than a dash of camaraderie and brotherhood mixed very carefully with the connection, intimate moments, some sensual and some downright 'smoking' to add just the right flavor!

Tyler expected to be probed and questioned and given THAT LOOK..."You can flip me over but you can't keep me down"...
Guess you had to be there so READ THIS BOOK!!!

This is another auto-buy, another sure thing from this accomplished author providing consistently pleasurable stories.

Another wonderful addition to the Significant Brothers series. This is Tyler’s story. It has the trade-mark E. Davies signature. Full of fun, sunshine, smoking-hot scenes, and a deeper meaning. All packed in a beautifully written story that had me turning the pages in a record-speed pace. There is something about his writing that is getting to me every time I read one of his books. It is difficult to pinpoint, but it is the feeling of being part of the story. It feels so natural and realistic.
Tyler and Alex are just to die for. Tyler is a snarky, cocky race-car driver who lives for his sport. He is trouble, but Alec likes trouble. Alec is his physical therapist who helps him to get back to the race tracks. He is a loner, kicked out by his family and not having any real friends, but he is more than enough for Tyler. Their banter is hilarious. E. Davies has such a wicked sense of humor. I was grinning the whole time. Only he can make curse words sound like endearments.
Both men are hesitant to come out all the way. You never know how the reactions of the outside world might hit you. When forced to make a decision, they are there for each other. That is so great about these guys. No beating around the bush, but tackling their issues head-on. They won’t let the other get away with anything. Although they have just met, they know they are the one. And that’s exactly what I felt. Their connection is palpable from the moment they meet. Simmering and bubbling and then full-on fireworks.
This book fits so perfectly with the others in the series. Although it is Tyler and Alex’s story, it is also the continuing story of the lives and loves of the significant brothers again. They are a wonderful bunch of guys, taking Alec into their midst as natural as breathing. He might have lost his family by blood, but he gained a family from the heart.

Awesome add to the series. Each new book makes you love this family more. Tyler and Alec are more similar than they know. Both struggling to find a balance in their lives, so when doubt or past insecurities surface they fall back on what they know. What they can trust and rely on: their careers. Tyler's dealing with his injury and watching his dreams from the sideline. Alec is too afraid to step out and be himself thinking he'd loose his job. Alec parents are horrible, and he doesn't realize that he can make his own family, people like sweet Rosie who remember his birthday. It's heartbreaking knowing such a great person like Alec had so little friends and family. I knew I'd like this book just because it's by E. Davies, but I wasn't sure if it would be my favorite out of all of them because of the Race Car/Sports story line. I'm not a sports person at all and was worried I wouldn't connect to Tyler. I'm so happy that I was wrong. I LOVE this book, the characters bring you into this sports world and gave you a whole new appreciation for it. It's really about a passion, expressing a part of yourself and a family. Can't wait for the next. I voluntarily reviewed an 'Advance Author’s Copy' of this book.

Alec & Tyler 🏁

This is the 5th book in the significant brothers series. It can be read as a stand-alone without feeling lost. This book follows Tyler, one of the “brothers”, who is a race car driver. He meets Alec, who is a physiotherapist. The chemistry between the two is instant and scorching! It’s a fairly low angst book (like many E. Davies books) that has some mystery and intrigue, maybe a few disagreements, and seriously hot sexual chemistry. I could not put this down once I started! I really enjoyed Alec and Tyler’s journey to love and their HEA. I highly recommend this book (it’s probably my favorite of this series so far) and the previous 4 in the series. I can’t wait for the next one!

This was one of my favorite stories in this series.
Ty the race car driver gets hurt and well he needs help Alec is just doing his job but he can’t help the feelings he has for Ty but it’s complicated.
I love that they both love their careers, but like I said complicated who wants to be the first outwardly gay man. Why should it matter so much? It shouldn’t.
I liked how they worked around a lot of their feelings and in the end how they threw caution to the wind.
Fantastic.

Deliciously Unethical

This love story was deliciously unethical because Tyler felt for his physical therapist, Alec. It was good love story. The sex scene was smoking. I like how Davies doesn’t make homophobia center stage in his books. While Alec’s homophobic parents are mentioned, they don’t occupy much of the story and it’s nice.

Continuation of this great story about 6 high school friends all finding their soul mate. This book was about race car driver Tyler, who meets personal trainer Alec after a major smash on the race track. The two work out a way to be together and love each other. Great updates from all the other characters.

2.5 stars for the story C-
4.5 stars for narration by Greg Boudreaux

You know the saying, "That was a meeting that should have been an email?" Well, this was a book that should have been a novella. There was a decent love story and a very small mystery plot (very small), but the combination wasn't enough to sustain even a shortish (6 hour) audiobook. There was a lot of filler that didn't move the story forward, mainly because there wasn't much story. Closeted racecar driver has crash, flirts with closeted PT. Will they won't they? Yes, no, maybe, and then yes again. It will ruin my career to come out! Mine, too! Repeat as needed. Boring.

The question of maybe the accident wasn't an accident was little more than an afterthought and if you sneezed you missed the entire culmination. Seriously! I rewound several times trying to see what I missed. That ending didn't seems feasible. Spoiler Alert! (You were warned.)

The only reason I'm being this generous is the narration is excellent as usual!

Another very solid installment in the Significant Brothers series. I know with E. Davies I'm going to get a solid romance, great characters, and some conflict (but usually with low angst) before the HEA.

Tyler is a race car driver and, after a horrible crash, meets Alec when he has to go in for physical therapy. Their attraction and chemistry is instant, even though both men are in the closet for fear of being out in their professions. However, they both realize that the desire to be with the other outweighs the safety of staying in the closet.

These guys were just delightful to read about, fun dialogue and interaction, great chemistry, and a friendship and relationship that was easy and angst-free. Great to see the other guys, too. I love this group of friends and am very happy they are all finding their loves and getting their HEAs. Great new story in the series, looking forward to the next one!

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

For beginner/entry level MM book readers :-/ ... you've read one, you've read them all!! I DO believe/know I am DONE with this author!! I just can't with this ... no more, just NO MORE!!
NO plot to speak of whatsoever ... nothing that holds the attention out of the way, and I can't even recommend this as "porn-without-plot", because even THAT is formulaic and boring :-/!
Hate to be harsh (kind of) but I have to be HONEST (always)!!

Borrowed from Kindle Unlimited.

I will always state when I borrowed something from Kindle Unlimited and whether I purchased it afterward or not! Why? Well, if I've borrowed something from KU, it - by default - means I am very unsure of either the author (if that author is new to me) or that specific book (in general)! I ADORE purchasing and owning my books, BUT for books or authors I'm unsure of, KU is a phenomenal way to try before committing!
Regardless, it means I'm very much on the fence, for whatever reason!
I'll highlight the outcome either way ... I'll either be glad it was on KU so I could give it back, or I'll have ADORED it and will decided to purchase right after borrowing :-)!!
I think it's a nice way to keep track; it might help someone else who's on the fence!

**Audio Review**

This sporty romance was a delight to listen to!

I've been having so much fun listening to each of the Significant Brothers fall in love, so I went into this story already expecting to love Tyler and his romantic interest. Alec and Tyler were every bit as adorable as I'd hoped, and I thought the physiotherapist/recovering athlete pairing was an interesting one. For a story with such lively, energetic characters, it was surprisingly mellow. Tyler spent most of the book recovering from his injuries, so there weren't many adrenaline-pumping races to set me on edge. That being said, the more laid-back pace didn't stop me from enjoying this story at all. If anything, it gave me plenty of time to sink my teeth into the wonderfully sweet, steamy attraction between these men. While the growing romance was undeniably the star of this audio, I was very intrigued by the background suspense plot surrounding the racing community. Greg B once again did an excellent job narrating this expansive cast of characters, and as a whole I have no complaints about his performance!

**I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this book. This review expresses my honest thoughts and opinions.

A few of my favorite things: racing, hot men and a love story between two hot men. ;)

Clutch is the 5th book in E Davies’ ‘Significant Brothers’ series and while they can be read alone, I highly recommend reading them all but can hop in at any time.

Alec and Tyler meet when Tyler is in a serious wreck during the race and he needs a physiotherapist to aid in his healing process and get back to racing again. From the moment they meet, sparks fly. While both characters are not in the closet to those around them, they have never made a point to express who they are outwardly to the public. As they begin to navigate their relationship, outside forces encroach and soon they have to make a decision on how far they want to take it.

We also get to catch up some with Tyler’s other 'brothers' and see how they all reach out and envelope Alec into their family. Something that, until he met Tyler, Alec did not realize he was missing.

What I love most about Ed’s writing is its free-spirited flow. There is low angst and I am able to enjoy myself for a few hours in their universe.

Overall: 4 Stars
Performance: 5 Stars
Story: 4 Stars

"Clutch" is the third Significant Brothers audio book I've listened to, and I'm enjoying the series and its overlapping characters. There is instant attraction between injured race car driver Tyler and his physical therapist Alec, who both keep their sexuality quiet for the sake of their professional lives and are not looking for a serious relationship. But in short order their casual hookup leads to feelings as they navigate becoming a couple amid busy careers and some upheaval stemming from Ty's racing accident (the only real source of very low-key angst in this story). This book fits with the overall tone of the series in being a largely sweet and fluffy story with some hot moments, and a breezy listen.

Greg Boudreaux is a go-to narrator for me because he never fails to deliver a terrific, engaging performance and that was the case here as well. I received this free review copy audio book by request and have left this honest review voluntarily.

Ah! What a wonderful story, possibly the sweetest instalment so far.
Tyler is a hotshot racing driver who gets into an accident on track. Alec is the physiotherapist assigned to his rehabilitation. And from the first meeting there is something between the men. But Ty is Alec’s patient and neither one is fully out in public so it’s complicated.
But man this was such a sweet story start to finish. The romance builds up bit by bit and very naturally, there’s no big angsty breakup to mix things up - instead the pair realise that nobody is perfect and life is too short to let a good thing go by...leaving to some very adorable scenes of the boyfriend nature.
The racing scenes were nicely wrapped in the main story, never taking over but neither was it ignored.
If you’re looking for sweet and tender and happy then this is definitely the book (and series) for you!
